Types of Correspondence 2
Formal correspondence
Business letter
Important event (wedding invitation)
Legal - having a special meaning under the law (speeding fine from the Police) Often called a legal document
Account phone bill or electricity bill
Informal
Send only to people you know well (friends)
Often use abbreviations, slang and incomplete sentences - emails, notes, sms, chats (Whats App etc.)
Some vocabulary to use
write a letter
write the address on the envelope
put a letter in an envelope
put a stamp on the envelope
mail send deliver
receive OR get a letter BUT open the envelope
read a letter
reply to a letter BUT correspond by letter
file keep lose OR misplace (cannot find it)
shred destroy tear up
scan copy distribute OR circulate
